1794 S-22 R1. PCGS graded AU-55. CAC. Choice frosty tan and light brown with slightly darker steel brown toning on the highpoints of the devices. Essentially flawless, just lightly worn on the highpoints. The best identifying mark, and it is barely visible, is a tiny pinprick under the right foot of the N in UNITED. MDS, Breen state IV late or V early, with a "mound" at the top of the wreath and another at RICA. The mounds under NITE are just starting to show and there are die clashmarks on both sides. A very nice 1794 cent with outstanding eye appeal. Graded EF45 net EF40 and tied for CC#10 in the Noyes census, his photo #32192. Our grade is EF40+. The attribution and Nancy & Bryan Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 2; 6 finer: 1 in 58, 1 in 58+, 2 in 62, 2 in 63 (PCGS # 35531) Value $6,000 - UP

1794 S-24 R1. PCGS graded AU-58. CAC. The "Apple Cheek" variety, so-named because of the high-relief cheek of Ms Liberty. Choice lustrous medium chocolate brown and steel with smooth, nearly flawless surfaces. The surfaces are covered with satiny mint frost and the eye appeal of this cent is outstanding in every respect. Just a hint of rub on the highest points of the devices from mint state. The only notable mark, and it is barely visible, is a tiny planchet flake near the dentils left of the bottom of the cap. M-LDS, Breen state V, with a die crack from the dentils just right of the 4 up through the bust to the upper neck where it fades out, a lighter crack from the dentils down through the L to the junction of the cap and hair, and several wavy die defects just right of the denominator. The central part of the reverse is clearly bulged outward, but ONE CENT is strong. The strike is sharp and almost perfectly centered on a beautiful planchet. This important example of the "Apple Cheek" variety is graded AU55 Choice and CC#7 in the Noyes census. Bland says AU55 and tied for CC#6 honors. Our grade is AU55. The finest example of the variety listed in the census of collections formed by the subgroup of members of the Early American Coppers Club (EAC) known as "The Boyz of 1794" is also graded AU55. The obverse of this cent was plated in Dr. Sheldon's Early American Cents and it comes with an outstanding provenance that can be traced back more than a century. The attribution and Nancy & Bryan Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 2; 3 finer: 1 in 62, 1 in 63, 1 in 66+ (PCGS # 35537) Value $30,000 - UP

1794 S-26 R2. PCGS graded VF-25. CAC. Choice glossy medium brown and very light chocolate. The planchet is smooth and the surfaces are nearly flawless. The only notable defects are a faint, very fine hairline scratch on the cap and a thin planchet fissure just right of the Y (as struck). M-LDS, Breen state VII. The die cracks on the reverse are very strong and swelling has nearly obliterated CE in CENT. A very attractive cent in a neat die state. Our grade is F15. The attribution and Nancy & Bryan Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 1; 8 finer. (PCGS # 35543) Value $3,250 - UP

1794 S-31 R1. PCGS graded MS-63 Brown. Very choice lustrous steel and medium chocolate brown. Satiny mint frost covers all but the highest points of this cent, and the eye appeal is outstanding in every respect. A tiny, barely visible speck of darker toning at the tip of the nose is the best identifying mark. MDS, Breen state II. The die chips in the field under the cap are obvious. Graded AU50 in the Noyes census, his photo #69681, but it looks at least as nice as several in his census that he calls Mint State. Bland says MS60. Our grade is AU58+, very close to mint state, and it was graded MS62 in the Eliasberg sale back in 1996. A choice, premium cent in every respect. This is the plate coin for the variety in the Breen large cent encyclopedia. The attribution and Nancy & Bryan Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 1; 4 finer: 1 in 63+, 2 in 64, 1 in 66 (PCGS # 35558) Value $45,000 - UP
